A frame within a frame

Have you ever heard of a frame inside of a frame? This piece just called for a new design take!

​This vintage poem with a 2-figured art display needed to be showcased in a way that highlighted the specialness of the piece.

We decided that the design should focus the poem while still using mats to create space, depth and grandeur.

To do this, we selected a black, metal moulding to surround the poem. We then mounted this framed piece on a vibrant red backdrop.

Recessing the poem, we used a secondary black moulding to craft an outside frame.

Because we believe that every detail matters, the red matting was also used to line the inside of the external frame, making the piece feel complete yet ensuring that the poem takes centre stage.
