The vintage ammo boxes

There are countless ways to do a frame design for vintage pieces but it's always fun when the artisanal team gets to be extra creative!

The project

​Create a custom frame design for two vintage ammo boxes.

The design

To capture the time of these items we wanted an old-world feel for our design. For our frame, we selected a rich tobacco leaf moulding that we doubled and built up to establish the perfect depth. This as well adds to the overall grandeur of the piece by extending it out.

A heritage sage mat was used for the backdrop. We covered the inside lip of the frame with this matboard for an undisturbed look. The colours and tones of the boxes and mat compliment each other while keeping a muted elegance.

For ease of access and to be able to experience the full dimension of the boxes, we built shelves to sit centered within the frame design with matching moulding.

This piece turned out beautifully and brings you back to a different time.​
