Today it’s all about books and beautiful framing designs as we look back on some of our favourite projects.
There’s nothing like a good book! For countless reasons a book is worth treasuring and framing! This book was addressed to our client and signed by Barack Obama. We had to highlight the signed page in our design so decided to separate it from the cover of the book and give it it’s own place within the frame. We float mounted the cover and signed page side by side on a dark mat.
This adorable cookbook is an antique complete with beautifully worn edges that needed to become part of the design. This book was recessed in a small mat "box" to hold it tight but still allow the rough outer rim of the book to be seen. We complimented it with a rustic frame.
Next on our list is this elegant piece! Our team trimmed the book’s cover and framed it in a thin gold metal frame that was then float mounted on a chocolate suede mat and shadow boxed in a gold frame.
For this design we individually framed each book within a larger frame. We used a thin black metal frame to equalize the depth of all the books. This also allowed us to keep the edges of the book from feathering. We then reverse cut four fillets to create small gold cradles to help the dark books stand out against the dark background. To add a layer of elegance and sophistication we used a dark grey velvet mat in the background, which gives the same contrast and pop as a black mat would but with a softer, richer look.
