Ever love the colours of a print or the design of an item, but the finish is less than impressive? You’re not alone! Let us show you how one of our recent projects turned an ordinary box store find into a one-of-a-kind showstopper.
A custom framing professional can turn things found in box stores, garage sales, or inherited items it into absolute ‘wow’ pieces.
With great design knowledge, we can showcase the beauty that you see, identify and bring out the most desirable elements in any piece and remove the obstacles within it that interfere with the presentation. Our client found this print at a box store and loved it, but too many same-sized mats made the art feel closed in and the broken plastic frame was less than desirable.
Box stores often frame decorative art using the least costly materials and sizing to the manufacturer so they can maximize on profit. This means that the basic elements of good design are inherently compromised. You’re walls deserve better.
In order to have the qualities of this print stand out, we needed to completely change the display. Our client was inspired by one of the designs in our shoppe so we got to work to turn her vision into a reality and this box store basic into something amazing. We removed the mounted art from the mats, glued it to her glass, which we trimmed down by about 4". We framed the piece in white moulding, giving a 2" space around the art.
Leaving paper open to the air and unprotected is not an ideal way to frame something on paper. But because this is not an original or valuable piece, we didn’t insist that it be between two pieces of glass. Our client was happy to enjoy the piece now and not worry about the longevity and when she gets tired of it, we can always repurpose the frame for something else!
You never know what might catch your eye when you’re out and about. Don’t let the display stop you from buying it, just bring it in and we’ll help transform it into a unique showstopper.
