Did you get masterpieces on Mother’s day? I did and like any mom those crayon-drawn flowers are like Monets in my mind! My collection of kiddie originals grows exponentially so I’m constantly looking at ways to organize and display their art. We’ve all seen versions of the display frame in stores and on pinterest so I wanted to show you how easy it can be to make one on your own in a matter of minutes.

Here’s what you’ll need:

Frame | I used a 16x20, but size is up to you
Twine, string or ribbon
Hot glue gun
Scissors
Tiny clothespins | There are so many great colours and styles to choose from in stores so pick something that works with your frame and the décor of your room.

1. Place the frame face down either horizontally or vertically depending on how you want it to hang in your space.

2. Hold one end of the twine to the edge of the frame and stretch it tautly across to the other edge and then make your cut so that you’re left with a piece of twine that fits perfectly from one edge of your frame to the other when pulled tight.

3. Decide how far from the top you’d like your twine to sit based on what you think you’ll display. (I went about 2 inches down from the top.) Then add a dollop of hot glue to that spot on the edge of the frame and stick down one end of the twine. Hold it in place a few seconds to ensure it stays put. Stretch the twine gently across the frame and follow the same process for the other end of the twine.

NOTE: I eyeballed this step but feel free to grab a pencil and ruler to precisely mark off the placement of the twine on the frame prior to gluing.

4. Repeat step 3 as many time as you like, just ensure that there’s enough distance between each row of twine to accommodate your display items when they hang.

As a precautionary step I always go back over the glued ends with a second squeeze of hot glue.

NOTE: Instead of using a hot glue gun you could also use a staple gun or screw eyes to fasten the twine onto the frame for extra security.

Place your clothespins along your twine, hang on the wall and display away. Super cute, quick, convenient and helps de-clutter the fridge!
