FUNCTION AND AESTHETIC

​Framing is so much more than the obvious. It's a way to increase style and add depth to your piece as well!

As custom framers we understand the importance of framing on many levels. There is the functional aspect of framing; a frame makes hanging and standing a photo or artwork easy. Custom framing an item also helps preserve and protect the art piece from the wears of time. These functional responsibilities of framing are very important, but the fun part is using frame design to add extra aesthetic elements to your piece. 

Your frame design can create a ton of personality. You can decide to incorporate a frame with texture, add a series of mats to highlight specific colours within your art or room, add a filet to add instant importance and the list goes on.

For this example, we decided to stack several mouldings. A soft, rustic wood frame with a pink hue subtly draws from the tones within the art and a rose gold outer frame pulls all the elements together. The gentle texturing on the metallic frame has just enough contrast to further elevate the final work. As you can see, the frame design creates a beautiful depth and dimension to the overall aesthetic of the piece. The function is naturally addressed but the custom frame design is what gives this piece the total wow!
