There are countless tiny details that a custom framer considers to bring a project to the next level. These details make the end result feel polished and really help achieve that ‘wow’ moment for our clients.
We’ve chosen 3 finishes that go beyond the basics of simply framing an item and into the realm of ‘look out this piece is WOW’!
Things like hardware are on the unglamorous end of any project but have a great deal of influence on how the piece finishes. Matching patina, considering the age of the item that we’re framing, are important to our team. On this antique star chart we sourced out craft hardware that matched the patina on the grommets in the chart so that we could hide the shiny silver screws actually used to hold it in place.
Creating custom pieces allow us to have a little fun. Sometimes our clients want to have a finish that’s a bit more decorative. The mat can be the perfect vehicle for this! Instead of plain/straight corners on the matting, we can embellish the look and add amazing detail to the corners. These are great for family photos!
When we float an item on top of a mat and float the glass, the inside of the frame is exposed. To finish this off, we usually line the inside of the frame in the same colour as the mat in behind the art. But this is an opportunity to bring the piece to the next level!
What we sometimes suggest is choosing another colour to finish the inside of the frame off with. We can select a colour in the artwork to highlight for example. This extra accent of colour really adds another point of interest that looks amazing! Applying this finish for jerseys using team colours is a nice option as well.
