We recently finished the frame design for an Amate bark painting and it looks amazing! Here is The Amate Bark Project.
I know we always say it but our clients bring such interesting pieces to us. We feel so fortunate! Our client bought this particular piece when on a trip to Mexico. Amate bark painting is a process that involves creating the bark paper, shaping and painting it, to create brightly coloured scenes.
The Design:
When designing for an art piece, it’s important to choose elements that are complimentary to the art so that the framing will highlight the piece without overpowering it. This means pulling from not only colours found within the art, but also using materials that make sense for the subject matter. In this case, we opted for linen and wood, which capture the natural aesthetics of this art form. We wanted to see the art from all angles so decided to tip it onto an off-white linen mat. This also made the piece appear to slightly float above the backing. A finish that is both elegant and truly custom. The piece was then recessed into a deep, dark, walnut wood moulding by Roma Moulding that works harmoniously with the predominant colors of this work. We love of it turned out! << NEXT | PREVIOUS >>
