Curating a space elevates a room and naturally adds personality.
The often forgotten bathroom should be treated with the same decor principles in mind. Here are our top 3 tips to bring personality to your bathroom decor:
1) Don't forget to add art The bathroom is where we unwind after a long day and wake up to tackle a new start. Why then do we often neglect to make it feel special? Adding art to a bathroom brings a finishing touch that this space deserves! "Art will make your bathroom feel just as beautiful as the rest of your home."
It will help turn it into a place where you want to relax in a warm tub, rather than cringe at that empty wall.
2) Select unexpected art Yes you could play it safe or you could turn the bathroom into your sanctuary. A space made for you! We often suggest going with unexpected art. In this case our client chose to turn “The Gashlycrumb Tinies”, a 1963 abecedarian book written by Edward Gorey, into bathroom decor.
In keeping with the rather dark theme of the book, we selected a charcoal black matting to cut our 28 openings in (26 openings accommodate book pages plus an additional 2 for the front and back cover of this tiny book that tell a beginning and an end to the story). To ensure symmetry, each opening was cut to the same size.
We crafted our frame from a dark-gilded wood moulding by Verbec. Black and charcoal tones along with hints of gold shapes come in and out of focus depending on the light. This connects to the work perfectly and as well will look stunning against our client's black bathroom wall complimented by brass fixtures.
3) Go custom with your mirror
Get rid of the standard mirrors and go custom. Add an extra large mirror to open up a tiny space or create a series of uniform mirrors over the sink. This large mirror spans the entire length of the vanity. We went with a sleek black mirror to play up the modern yet classic design choices of this master bath.
The bathroom is used a lot and for various reasons, so turn this space into a room that you love!
