Teachers this one is for you! It’s time to inspire young minds and start off the school year with a bang! As you know, setting up a fun and exciting classroom is a big part of how the year unfolds so here are some great ideas to help give your classroom a makeover.
Rules are important but easily forgotten. Turn classroom order into a beautiful display. Hopefully the colors will draw little eyes and remind them what is and isn’t appropriate classroom conduct.
Set up an I Can board. Kids need constant encouragement and praise. Having a board listing the classroom’s accomplishments not only unites the group, but also makes everyone feel special, appreciated and eager to tackle the next challenge.
A similar idea is to set a class goal and track it. The kids will be eager to complete their reading assignments as they watch the number of books go up!
Inspiring quotes tucked throughout the classroom in the reading nook or paint area act as little reminders to the students that they can reach for the stars. If you have the space, why not create an inspirational wall!
Display those As or works of art by setting up empty frames just waiting to be filled with classroom wonders! If you have little space for a gallery style wall then hang up an empty frame from the ceiling. I had fun a while back creating my own display frame that would work well in a classroom.
Dry erase boards are a classroom’s best friends. Set up a homework board, classroom assignment board, calendar and of course the teacher’s to-do list, all with the ease of writing and wiping as needed.
Birthdays are a big deal in school and creating a board marking these special days highlights each child’s value.
Thank you to all the teachers about to start another school year. Your time, patience and dedication are very much appreciated. Here’s to another great school year!
