There is something so nostalgic about portraits. The idea of how to frame them has evolved over time though.
Bringing different styles and personalities to art is what we love to do and having a stunning portrait to work with makes our job easy. Depending on the frame design a portrait can go from modern, whimsical to classic or elegant in aesthetic.
Get the looks. Modern
For a more modern look, consider the addition of mats. Or float your art away from the frame leaving a slight space between the two. Another idea is to choose a frame that is clean-lined. Consider going bold in colour or stick to a light wood-tone.
Whimsical:
A chunky frame with lots of dimension and movement will help achieve this style.
Classic:
Stick to traditional metallics, with no matting.
Rustic:
Woods or imperfectly perfect mouldings create a rustic feel.
Combining styles:
Of course, with preference comes combining different styles into one look. For example, you might want to pick up on some of the more traditional metallics, but add a modern twist with a mat.
