The story behind this project is one that will stay with us. Here is The Cardinal Project.
Our client brought in a beautiful painting done by her daughter. As she began to explain the piece, we quickly realized how significant and sentimental it was to their family. The young artist’s grandmother loved red cardinals. One day, she spotted a cardinal in her backyard. It’s red plumage looked especially brilliant against the February snow. She opened the window and replied in like to the cardinal’s song. Later that day she passed away. Her granddaughter never had the pleasure of knowing her. But when she spotted a red cardinal, she believed that it represented her grandmother. At a later date, when her grandfather passed, she realized that the red cardinal is the male while the beige is in fact the female. She decided to express her grandparents’ reunion through this painting.
We tipped it on a natural linen mat board to add texture, while as well elevating this important piece. We crafted the frame using a gold Fotiou moulding with delicate beading that echoes berries, while it’s distressed surface mimics branches.
Preserving and protecting memories like this is what we cherish most. << NEXT | PREVIOUS >>
