There are many special things that come through our shoppes and this original 1940’s lithograph print for the circus is no exception! Not only is this piece an antique, but as well it is a family heirloom and it belongs to one of our very own team members (who we’ll refer to as B). You won’t believe the backdrop she created for the final, framed piece to hang!
This old lithograph used to hang on the walls of a kindergarten classroom in the 1940’s. When B’s grandmother retired from teaching it was rolled back up and stored for decades. In 2013, the poster was given to B to remain rolled up for a few more years... until she joined the Le Frame Shoppe team! Finally she knew the timing was right to give this poster the treatment that it deserved. The lithograph was light-mounted, in a Larson-Juhl gilded frame and recessed 1" with matching matboard walls. The classic gold tone and the playful movement of the moulding’s details look stunning!
Being the talented person that B is, she painted the wall in her space specifically for the framed piece to hang.
“I wanted it to look similar to a performance spotlight… or the alternating colors at the top of a circus tent.”
Not only was this piece incredible to work on because of the history and beautiful frame design, but it was so much fun to see how the piece inspired it’s final hanging spot. Amazing work B!
