Medals, hats, history...
... these are the ingredients for an amazing montage! Let's take a closer look at The curling project.
Our client brought in an incredible project that featured items from her grandfather's passion for curling and involvement with a local curling club.
Naturally these items needed to be protected, but they also needed to be displayed in a way to showcase the significance of every piece within the frame design.
To do this, we created a design to stack two frames in a staggered fashion that would reveal some of the back moulding. This not only allows us to achieve the necessary depth for the items when framed, but as well gives a feeling of grandeur to the overall piece. We built the frames using moulding in dark, rich, brown tones, with unique textures to provide a subtle contrast between the frames when joined.
Our design consists of three windows cut into a rye coloured mat arrangement with a rich burgundy suede mat as the backdrop. The first window opening shows off the hat, followed by two openings with a curated pin display.
We wanted the pins to help tell the story. In one window, we mounted the pins in a specific order to create balance and an overall pleasing aesthetic. Underneath that we highlighted pins from his presidency in the curling club along with a name plate in a gold metallic that ties everything together.
... And protective glass keeps everything safe against the wears of time. This family artifact turned out beautifully!
