THE DELICATE THREAD PROJECT

​One of our favourite clients came back in to visit us with a few new pieces brought back from Japan. They turned out amazing! Here is The Delicate Thread Project.
 
Artworks made of delicate, hand-coloured thread, were given to our client by a family friend who is also a fantastic and multi-talented artist. A lacework piece that the artist had made for our client’s mother was also included in this project.
 
Our client wanted to frame these treasures with a design inspired by the works and artist. We decided on a collection of colourful frames from Fotiou that have a textural aesthetic and compliment the pieces beautifully.  

​When working with frames and artwork that carry a lot of interest, we’ll often decide on a more subtle matting choice. In this case we went with 8-ply, off-white mats. These mats are thicker than the average mat so they also provide depth to the tiny thread art pieces.  For the lacework, colour was introduced through an elegant, teal blue fabric mat.
