THE HOMAGE PROJECT

Paying homage to the past creates some of the best pieces. This project used an old photograph and shears to honour family and business.
Our client's family owned a fabric shop and brought in a vintage photo and shears from that time. We had a stainless steel plate made of tribute that sits right between the two in the design.

To go with the vibe of the items, we selected an antique silver frame with an exterior dark walnut rim. For the matting, adding two different greys helped accentuate and elevate the items with an elegant subtlety. The outer mat is a light grey, while a thin line of charcoal matting sits on the inside. This same mat was as well used as a background for the shears to tie everything together. ​

We floated the photo up and crafted a mini shadow box within the framing for the shears.

When looking at this piece, there is no doubt that this is something special.
