We're kicking off the week with the details from an amazing project!
We were honoured to help our client reframe this original painting by famed Quebec artist, Marc-Aurèle Fortin. This artist has worked in the National Gallery of Canada, Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, and whose work is on a postage stamp by Canada Post! No matter how many exceptional pieces come to us we can't help but get excited every time! And this one was an absolute treat!
Naturally this work speaks for itself.
"Our job was to enhance this painting and There is no true black in this painting - only very dark, saturated browns. So we wanted to carry this into the frame design. We selected a thick, rich wood outer moulding to build the main frame. The warmth of the wood also plays perfectly with the tones of greens and blues within the painting.
To add a light element while maintaining the painting's magnificence we decided on an inner gold moulding. Its classic details and metallic nature bring out all the subtle highlights of the piece.
We added balance, texture and subtle details in the frame design by taking a nod from this high-valued painting and we absolutely love the results! << NEXT | PREVIOUS >>
