Our client brought in 12 sword guards. An incredible and unique collection that makes an incredible and unique display with the help of our team of experts at the Le Frame Shoppe workshop!

There are so many details to this stunning piece! The visible elements and hidden artisanal workings truly make this project next level!

We crafted the frame using a weathered moulding by Fotiou to compliment the aged metal of the guards. The uniform ~1" spacing, is not only pleasing for the eyes, but as well pulls all of the sword guards together, making them feel like a set while still being able to appreciate their distinct elements.

Deciding between a historical green or red, it was decided that the guards would be arranged in two rows on a red fabric mat that adds to the grandeur of the items.

Our client requested that the sword guards be mounted in a non-destructive manner and we were happy to oblige! This is where our Le Frame Shoppe artisans really shine!

We used rare earth magnets behind the matting to hold the items in place. This made the mounting both invisible and non-destructive. One of the sword guards is made from cast brass, so it was not receptive to our magnets. For this piece, we hand-stitched it to the mat board and secured the backside with buttons for added security.

To ensure perfect spacing and alignment between each guard, a grid was created using 1" strips of mat board. From here, the items were arranged onto the mat board and secured with the magnets from behind. We built up the back so that the magnets stay put should our client want to remove the guards.
