These beautiful tapestries were hand-stitched by our client's grandmother and brought to us for an amazing design!
Our frame design was for a guest bedroom, where each tapestry will be placed above a twin-sized bed.
We decided on a brown/black moulding with a heavy, three dimensional wood grain for an understated look that still delivers on texture and as well compliments the subtle details within the works. Each piece was centered and gently tipped onto a creamy, fabric mat and to create a shadow box, we floated the glass above.
Since these needle points are so delicate, our usual method of stretching to keep an item flat and in place for framing could not be applied. Instead, to secure the works in place, we used a heat-activated fusion made specifically for fabrics. For the smaller areas, tiny droplets of fabric-safe adhesive were used to secure the fraying base layer.
And finally, because the pieces were not quite the same size nor in the same orientation, our artisanal team had to carefully do some adjusting to make them match one another.
All this attention to detail paid off with two stunning pieces of memorabilia! << NEXT | PREVIOUS >>
