We get asked to create custom frame designs for all types of items that have specific purposes.
For this framing project, we were asked to create a custom frame design suitable for a botanical antique print (date of issue 1818) that will be used as a prop for staging.
We wanted to be true to this piece's time, keeping the early 19th century vibe, so we selected a miniature, simple walnut wood moulding by Verbec to build our frame. This moulding has a gorgeous layered detail that provides just the right amount of design interest.
One of the biggest tasks with framing antiques is ensuring the longevity of the items that we are framing. Art Glass offers UV protection and as well has a non-reflective quality that is ideal for conservation and for filming or photographing a space. Check! Check! The back of all of our custom frame designs get neatly papered to provide a barrier against dust and moisture. Any artist descriptions or certificates of authenticity get added along with a complementary hook as a finishing touch.
This 200-year old print looks polished and ready to work as a staging piece, while being preserved under quality glass.
