May is almost over and only now is it starting to feel like spring. The turn in weather might be slow but nothing has slowed down over here! One exciting piece of news is that we’re hiring in almost every section of our business; from positions for our design & sales team, artisanal work for our mat & mounting department, cut & joiners and as well as for our fit & finishing department! We also have a manager’s position available for someone who will help continue to grow our business and be our “right-hand man”. If you think any of these positions would be a perfect fit, we hope to hear from you soon! But right now let’s talk about the triple mat, coloured mat and velvet mat on the blog!
Mats add character and detail to your framed piece. When you decide to go custom you can add a ton of embellishments like letter or image etchings directly into your mat, stacking several mats to achieve a certain look, altering the size and dimensions of your mat to create a very district style or choose from colours that are perfect for the story your item is just waiting to tell.
This month’s top pins showcase a few mat options that work so well for the items they enclose. First up is this fun dog art. We’ve gone with a crisp white frame and mat combo except for a thin addition of orange. The coloured mat pulls from one of the main colours used in the art and helps tie the entire piece together.
Next up is a triple mat combo for the win! I love the grand result that is achieved by stacking several mats. In this case the main mat is a classic, neutral addition to this metallic frame and the two other mats highlight the colours of the floral for a pretty detail.
Can we just discuss velvet mats for a second? They are so luxurious and really bring your piece to that level of “wow”! For these vinyl records, the rich addition of velvet looks amazing! The albums showcase the records partially pulled out of their respective sleeves. We then mounted them on these stunning velvet mats and went with a second mat cut to fit the sleeve/record shape for added detail and interest.
