The Welcome Mat Project

This piece is incredible....on so many levels!

This Banksy edition, Welcome mat, is hand stitched using the fabric from life vests abandoned on the beaches of the Mediterranean. Banksy joined forces with the organization 'Love Welcomes' who work with women in detainment camps in Greece to create these stunning works of art.

We selected a straight-lined black frame for the design. This not only allows the work to take center stage, but also creates a nice contrast to the fibrous nature of the piece.

​The straps around the focal point of the art needed to be straighten and ironed for display. All details of the trade! As well, the certificate of authenticity was adhered to the back of the frame. In this way, the art and paperwork stays together for our client. 

Needing to protect the piece we chose to cover it with art glass. The result is beautiful!
